Puff Stitch Beanie

Here it is...
I posted this beanie on my Facebook page and said I "made it up as I went along".

Well, I went back and wrote down every step. So here is the pattern...

I used Vanna's Choice Yarn (4 pl), and a size J hook.

Chain 4 and join with a sl stitch to beginning chain to form a ring.

ROW 1- ch 2, 11 dc into ring, join
ROW 2 - ch 2, dc into same stitch, 2 dc into each stitch around
ROW 3 - ch 2, dc into same stitch, 1dc into next stitch, * 2 dc into next stitch, 1 dc into next stitch*, repeat ** around, join
ROW 4 - ch 2, dc into same stitch, 1 dc into next 2 stitches, * 2dc into next stitch, 1 dc into next 2 stitches*
repeat ** around, join
ROW 5 - ch 2, 1 dc in each stitch around, join in with puff stitch color
ROW 6 - ch 1 to secure, work PS in same stitch (PS = yo, insert hook, pull up loop <5 times>, should have 9 loops on hook, yo, pull through all 9 loops), ch 1, *skip next stitch, work PS in next stitch*, repeat ** around, join with main color
ROW 7 and 8 - ch 2, 1 dc in each stitch around, join
ROW 9 - repeat ROW 6
ROW 10 and 11 - repeat ROW 7, join with puff stitch color
ROW 12 - ch2, hdc in each stitch around
ROW 13 and 14 - ch 2, hdc in each stitch around, join, fasten off.

Basic Beanie


Here is my basic beanie. This is my "go-to" hat. It's easy to make so I can whip one up in less than an hour. So I decided to share the pattern in hopes that you will try. Soon you'll be addicted!
You will need:
Size J crochet hook
1 skein of worsted weight yarn (4)
1 tapestry needle
chain 4, join with sl st to first chain on hook
Row 1: chain 3 (counts as first dc), 11 dc in center ring (12 dc total),
join with sl st to to of first chain 3
Row 2:  Chain 3, dc into same st, 2 dc in each st across (24 dc total), join
Row 3: Chain 3, 2 dc in next st,{1dc in next dc, 2dc in next dc}, repeat {} around, (36 dc total), join
Row 4: Chain 3, dc in next st, 2dc in next st, {dc in next 2 st, 2dc in next st}, repeat {} around, join
Row 5-12: Chain 3, dc in each st around, join
Row 13: sc in each st around, join
Fasten off and weave ends in with tapestry needle
